What we store
- Anonymous play: a random
anon_idcookie so your guesses survive a reload in the same browser. No account needed. - Accounts: if you sign up, your email, display name, and (for Google sign-in) basic profile info from Google.
- Your guesses: the value you guessed, the reference line at the time, and when you guessed. Without an account, guesses only count for the current week; when you sign up, the current week’s move to your account and older anonymous guesses are deleted.
Cookies
Functional cookies: the anon_id cookie and the session cookie that keeps you signed in.
Analytics cookies: we use Google Analytics (loaded through Google Tag Manager) to understand aggregate traffic — how many people visit, which pages, and roughly where they come from. This sets Google Analytics cookies (such as _ga) and shares usage data with Google. We do not use advertising or cross-site ad-targeting cookies.
We also use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics tool we host on our own server, to count visits and page views. Umami sets no cookies and its data never leaves our infrastructure. For a sample of visits, Umami also records anonymized session replays and click heatmaps (page interactions such as clicks and scrolling) to help us improve the site; anything you type is masked before it is recorded, and these recordings are likewise stored only on our own server.
How we use it
To run the game, save your history, and compute aggregate “what others guessed” stats. Aggregates use signed-in players’ guesses only and are shown in summary form (averages/counts), never tied to an identifiable person.
Your choices
Clearing your cookies removes anonymous history on that device. Signed-in users can request account deletion by contacting us.
Third parties
Betting line data comes from the-odds-api. We use Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager to measure site traffic, and Google sign-in if you choose it. Umami analytics runs on our own server, so no traffic data is shared with a third party through it.
